Important Medtronic Guardian Connect Update

Medtronic has announced an issue which affects people using the Guardian Connect continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system.

Medtronic has advised that there is a potential connectivity issue, which requires everyone using the Guardian Connect system to update to version 3.2.2 of the Guardian Connect app as soon as possible.

The identified issue relates to Apple iOS 11.3 & 11.4 that can sometimes prevent people using the Guardian Connect system from receiving a ‘Lost Communication’ alert when the app is closed by the iPhone’s operating system in certain situations.

This means that in certain situations the operating system may close the Guardian Connect app without alerting the user that the app is no longer running or communicating with the Guardian Connect Transmitter. If the app is closed, people using the Guardian Connect system will not receive alerts that could be associated with hypoglycaemic or hyperglycaemic events.

Medtronic also advise that people using the Guardian Connect system periodically check that the app is still running and be especially mindful when running several applications at once.

If you are using the Guardian Connect system you will have received an email from Medtronic advising you of what you will need to do next. If you have not received this email, please contact Medtronic by calling 1800 777 808.
