Endorsement of education events for Continuing Professional Development points

The ADEA endorsement of education programs for continuing professional development (CPD) points for Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDEs) was introduced to recognise appropriate conferences, workshops, seminars, short online courses, videos, case studies, webinars and podcasts conducted by external training providers or companies.

ADEA members applying for credentialling must undertake a percentage of their CPD points from ADEA provided or ADEA endorsed activities.

Submitting an application for endorsement

The below documents will assist training providers and/or companies in the application process for endorsement:

The endorsement Review Process

Once an application is received by ADEA it is sent to two members of our independent multidisciplinary Endorsement Committee. All endorsed CPD activities must:

Successful applications are allocated CPD points that can be claimed for when applying for initial recognition or re-credentialling as a CDE.

Other ADEA services available to external organisations to support Continuing Professional Development

In addition to the endorsement process ADEA is now offering training providers or companies the opportunity to house their endorsed programs, especially online courses, on our Learning Management System (LMS).  These resources could be targeting ADEA members, but also other health professionals to improve their knowledge of diabetes management.

The benefits of providing e-learning courses/workshops/webinars through the ADEA LMS include:

  • Have learning outcomes in accordance with the National Competencies for Credentialled Diabetes Educators
  • Meet a standard of professional development expected for activities undertaken by CDEs
