ADEA supports revitalised free service to assist people starting insulin therapy

23 July 2024—ADEA is supporting the launch of Insulin Chat, a free national phone service to help CDEs care for people living with diabetes.

The service is a revitalised version of the Simple Steps service and is now available to all people starting any type of insulin.

Key features of Insulin Chat

To promote the service to people starting insulin therapy, general practitioners are encouraged to give clients Insulin Chat’s QR codes linking to the service’s website.

The initiative supports ADEA’s 2023–26 strategic plan to ensure every person living with diabetes has equitable access to optimal diabetes care and education.

Key features of Insulin Chat

  • Free 15-minute consultations with a CDE: Insulin Chat CDEs provide general care and advice during these sessions.
  • Referrals for specific and ongoing care: For more detailed advice and continuous care, Insulin Chat CDEs will refer callers to their local CDEs.
  • Integration with ADEA’s Find a CDE platform: This feature aims to empower more people in managing their insulin, increase referrals to CDEs, and elevate the profile of the CDE profession.
