Announcement of new Chief Executive Officer

Joanne Ramadge

On behalf of the Board of Australian Diabetes Educators Association, we are delighted to advise that Dr Joanne Ramadge has been appointed as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Dr Joanne Ramadge has a background in nursing, specifically in oncology and palliative care with some experience and education in Intensive Care and Midwifery. Joanne earned a PhD from University of Western Sydney and her diverse background encompasses education, clinical practice, research and management. She currently holds a joint appointment with the University of Canberra.

Joanne’s recent role was as CEO at Sexual Health & Family Planning Australia (SH&FPA), where she had a strong agenda in advocacy and policy with program implementation and contract management.  At SH&FPA, Joanne has been instrumental in building a focus on the sexual and reproductive health needs of vulnerable groups within society, resulting in the development of partnerships and collaborations with key groups and individuals to clearly identify and advocate for these needs.

Prior to this Joanne had over ten years experience in the Australian Public Service at a senior level, the more recent roles as Deputy CEO, National Manager of Education and Service Delivery and National Manager of the National Centre for Gynecological Cancers at Cancer Australia, providing strong leadership within the organisation. These positions support almost two decades of experience in national policy, education and strategic program design and implementation across nursing, aged care and cancer control.

Joanne will take up the role on the 8th of April where her combined skills and experiences will contribute to the future development of ADEA.
