Jan Baldwin Winner Strives to Leave a Legacy
Speaking at the Australian Diabetes Society and Australian Diabetes Educators Association 2011 Annual Scientific Meeting, 2010 Jan Baldwin award winner Michelle Robins discussed the significant impact diabetes educators can have on the lives of people with diabetes.
With 18 years experience as a diabetes educator, Michelle commented that developing personalised management plans and relationships with each patient was critically to achieving successful outcomes.
Discussing, what she terms, the ‘legacy effect’ Michelle said, “I urge diabetes educators to strive to improve their patient care and learn from the legacy’s left to us by inspirational breakthrough diabetes treatments and teachers.
“By doing this, today’s educators could leave behind an outstanding legacy of patient care and advancements to those living with diabetes,” concluded Michelle.
Michelle received the 2010 Jan Baldwin award in recognition of her commitment to a holistic approach to the management of those living with diabetes.
