The 2012 ADS-ADEA Annual Scientific Meeting was held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and was met with great enthusiasm and interest. The conference successfully helped to promote the exchange of the latest clinical practices and cutting edge research in diabetes. With a range of informative lectures, communication sessions, and clinical, scientific and educational symposia the ASM was a particularly successful and beneficial meet for all who were involved and attended.

We are pleased to report that the 2012 ASM saw a significant increase in both consumer and medical media with coverage reaching an audience in excess of 2.2 million. Working in collaboration with Ethical Strategies Public Relations Counsel, the committee identified presentations and topics of interest to a medical and consumer audience, with such, a range of media material was prepared, including media alerts and releases. As a result of this hard work and dedication coverage appeared in leading publications and on national television networks; this included various stories airing nationally on networks including ABC National News, Channel 10 news in Sydney and Channel Nine in the Gold Coast.

We are extremely happy with the outcome and results of the ASM, and look forward to next years ASM.
