| 2.00-2.40pm | Diabetes and Renal Health Diabetes is a significant risk factor for the development of kidney disease and is the leading cause of kidney failure in Tasmania, Australia and worldwide. Up to 90% of kidney function may be lost before symptoms are present, so annual checking of those at risk is essential. This presentation from Kidney Health Australia aims to provide tools to drive the early detection and optimal management of Chronic Kidney Disease in people with diabetes. |

Graeme will speak to the Heart Foundation’s activities in the context of Tasmania’s demographics around risk reduction for early detection of heart disease. He will also cover the Heart Foundation’s work in support and care, and primary and secondary prevention. Finally, he will detail the many resources that are available for diabetes educators and other clinicians in Tasmania. |
